Two games in one

2048 Suika keeps the falling jar of the merge games but replaces the fruit chain with a doubling chain: 2 and 2 make 4, 4 and 4 make 8, and so on. If you have played 2048 the values are instantly readable, and if you have played Suika the physics are.

The combination is harder than either parent. In 2048 a merge is guaranteed when two equal tiles collide; here they have to physically touch, and the pile decides whether they do.

Read the numbers, not the shapes

• Sort the jar left to right by value the way you would sort a 2048 board — the biggest number against one wall, descending across.
• A number dropped on top of a much larger one is stuck there until you build a matching pair on top of it. Avoid it.
• Chains are worth waiting for: dropping a 4 that makes an 8 that makes a 16 is three merges of space from one drop.

The trap

Because the numbers are legible, it is tempting to play it like 2048 and chase the highest tile. But this jar has no undo and no slide — you cannot rearrange what has landed. Space management beats value chasing every time.

If the jar is filling, take any merge available rather than holding out for the one that would double your best number.
