Merging on a restaurant grid

Sushi Merge lays a fixed grid over a sushi counter and fills it with plates, coins and items. Matching items combine, coins accumulate, and the board is small enough that every placement matters.

It is closer to a puzzle than to an idle game: the grid does not grow, so space discipline is the whole thing.

Working a small board

• Merge immediately. On a fixed grid there is no upside to holding a pair and every downside.
• Keep one row clear as workspace for as long as you can.
• Coins on the board are collectable but they also occupy a cell — take them when you are short of room, not when you are short of money.

When it locks up

A full grid with no matching pair is the only way to fail, and it is always the result of scattering rather than of bad luck. Group by kind as you go and it rarely happens.

If it does, look for the cheapest merge available rather than the best one — you are buying space, not value.
