Merge Penguins is a four-by-four board where penguins are bought rather than dropped. Coins buy a penguin — the shop offers batches, four at a time — and two identical penguins merge into the next kind up. Extra slots and upgrades sit locked down the right-hand side until you can afford them.

It is the shop-driven end of the merge genre: the decisions are about spending, not about placement.

Spending order

• Fill the board before you upgrade anything. Sixteen cheap penguins out-earn eight expensive ones for a surprisingly long time.
• Buy in batches when the option is there — it is cheaper per penguin and it hands you instant pairs.
• Unlock slots before buying multipliers. More board is more income, permanently.

Merging efficiently

Work along the board in reading order so identical penguins end up next to each other rather than scattered. On a sixteen-slot grid it is genuinely easy to lose track of what you own.

And merge the moment you have a pair. There is no reason to hold one back here — unlike a jar game, nothing is going to fall on it.
